The Tiding from the Light. Hikari - No - Otozure. August 1945. [Cover title].
[Granada, Colorado]: Amache Seicho-No-Iye, 1945. 8-1/2 x 7 inches. [48]pp. Stapled peach-colored wrappers printed in black. Mimeograph text and cover illustrations. Text in Japanese and some English. Crease to front wrapper; light soiling and edgewear to wrappers; strong perfume odor. Good.
Scarce issue of this utopian religious journal published in Camp Amache by incarcerated Japanese Americans during WWII. Includes an English-language essay by Masaharu Taniguchi, "Disease Does Not Exist"; what appears to be a list of subscribers in other Japanese American concentration camps; and letters from readers praising the journal and offering contributions, as well as various religious articles.
OCLC locates only one holding of this title, at Stanford, which doesn't appear to have this issue; we also note that UC Berkeley has digitized records of some issues, but not, as far as we can tell, physical copies.
