Poster promoting a July 4, 1978 rally for Dessie Woods in San Francisco, in solidarity with the national march held in Plains, Georgia, President Carter's hometown. The poster includes a collage of b&w photographic images of Black people being arrested, beaten, standing behind bars in a jail cell, and in a group with fists raised, as well as one image of two Black children; a green illustration of the continent of Africa overlaps these images, with an illustration in the center of Dessie Woods with a raised fist. Speakers at the rally included the National Committee to Defend Dessie Woods, the African People's Socialist Party, the Zimbabwe African National Union, the RNA 11 Defense Committee, and others.

Notably, although the San Francisco march was almost certainly the larger of the two, no major newspaper covered the event -- even the San Francisco Chronicle only reported on the Plains, Georgia, march, attended by 100 or 300 protestors (accounts differ).
