Photograph Album Possibly Containing Images of the Construction of the Panama Canal

(n. p.): (n. d.), circa 1905. 9-3/4 x 12 inches. 33 leaves, containing 164 silver gelatin photographs pasted to leaves; most photos 3-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches or 3-1/4 x 4 inches. Red-orange paper covers with grey leaves. Album in rough shape, with spine lacking, chipping/loss to edges of covers and most album leaves, and one leaf detached; one leaf presumably missing a photo, as a large piece of the leaf has been removed. Photos themselves in good condition overall, with a few slightly blurry or underdeveloped. Fair.

An uncaptioned photo album following a group of white tourists, possibly Americans, as they travel through what appears to be Central America. Notably, nine photographs show what looks like contruction of the Panama Canal. Other images include dock and railroad scenes, street scenes, people gathered around a square, boys sitting on a coal mound, the travelers aboard ships and riding in ox-carts, and so on.
