10th Annual All Woman Transcontinental Air Race. July 7 - 10, 1956. [Cover title].
(n. p.): All-Woman Transcontinental Air Race, Inc., 1956. 11-1/4" x 8-5/8". Unpaginated, but 32 pp + typescript acknowledgements slip. Blue stapled wrappers printed in white and gold, b/w illustrations from photographs throughout. Light extremity wear. Very Good.
Program from the 1956 AWTAR, which began at the San Mateo County Airport, in San Mateo, California, and ended at Bishop Airport, in Flint, Michigan. The race included 50 pilots, many but not all of whom flew with co-pilots; short bios and pictures of each pilot and her co-pilot (where applicable) are included here, along with brief articles on the airports and locations at each end of the race, handicapping, the challenge of the race itself, etc.
Scarce. OCLC locates only five institutions that hold any of the series of programs, and none appear to have this one.
