Practical Supplemental Studies for Public and Private Schools. Vol. II, No. 10. May, 1887. [Cover title].
Oakland, California: Pacific Press Publishing House, 1887. 9 x 5-7/8 inches. 24pp. Sage green wrappers printed in black. B&w illustrations. Soiling and chipping to wrappers, with loss and creasing to lower corner of front wrapper; upper binding staple rusted, causing staining and small loss to the last few leaves and rear wrapper; contemporary gift inscription to front wrapper. Good.
Educational booklet by the Seventh-day Adventist publishing house, divided into sections meant to supplement the second, third and fourth readers, with each section appropriately increasing in difficulty. Contents include short stories, poems for memorization practice, short biographies, etc. It is unclear if the readers referred to were also published by Pacific Press, or were simply in standard use at the time.
Although the title page states that this is Volume I, rather than Volume II, the editors in their "Editorial Notes," note that "[w]ith this number, the last of Volume II...", which conclusively makes the volume number on the title page a printing error.
