In my memory you are evergreen, sometimes I pine fir yew, sometimes I balsam, so spruce up. Oh chestnuts! [Postcard from a WPA Worker].
[Pottstown, Pennsylvania]: (n. d., 1942?). 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches. Divided back postcard. Buff stock printed in orange, navy and black. Two sets of staple holes to top and bottom of card; small rough patch to verso where card was removed from adhesive, not affecting text. Holograph address and brief note from sender ("From 'Bud'"), some words of text on recto underlined in black ink, letters "WPA" inked inside printed ornaments on recto.
A sweet postcard presumably sent from a WPA worker to his sweetheart, using puns based on tree names. Postmarked Nov. 27, Pottstown, PA; the year is unclear, but may be 1940 or 1942.
