Wishes for a Reel Merry Christmas! [Greeting Card].
U.S.A.: (n. d.), circa 1930s. 14 x 11 cm (folded). Top-fold greeting card with window cut-out to front panel, illustrated in red, green, yellow and black on linen-like stock. Toned and lighty damp-spotted; faint pencil inscription to foot of front panel, partially erased and illegible. Good+.
Disneyesque Christmas card featuring two black mice with white hands, the female in a box seat at a movie theatre, the male on the movie screen (the window cutout) holding a note that reads, "To You". The card opens to reveal that the male mouse is one in a three-part series on a film reel showing him writing the note, holding it up, and then posting it in a mailbox, while the window cutout becomes the part the lens of a film camera; beside the film reel panels are the words, "And here's hoping your New Year will be a thriller!"
An uncommon and charming piece of film-related ephemera.
