Collection of Early Material for the National Association of the Physically Handicapped
[various]: National Association of the Physically Handicapped, 1959-1969. Varying sizes. 15 brochures and pamphlets, plus a flyer, a promotional address book, a souvenir flag on a toothpick, and a 7" x 10" b&w photograph. Light occasional toning; tape repairs to spines of some pamphlets/brochures; one entry in ink to address book. Very Good.
A collection of programs and other material from the first nine national conventions of the N. A. P. H., plus programs from conventions held by the Michigan Area chapter, the Golden Triangle Chapter of Pittsburgh, and the Nation's Capitol chapter. Also included are a flyer from a National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week wheelchair basketball game, and a photo of convention participants.
The N. A. P. H. was founded in 1958 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, following the dissolution of the American Federation of the Physically Handicapped. It seeks to make the "public aware of the needs of the physically challenged, and supports Legislation to benefit the physically challenged community in areas such as employment, housing, transportation, a barrier free society, etc." (naphnet.blogspot.com).
Although not separately catalogued, many if not all of these programs appear to be at the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan. No holdings located in OCLC.
