Autumn Gold. The Oakland - Bay Area Links 14th Annual Cotillion.
(n. p.): [Oakland - Bay Area Chapter Links, Inc.], 1969. 28 cm. 180 pp. Orange wrappers printed in brown. Light wear and creasing to wrappers and beginning few leaves; spine lightly sunned and creased, with short tears to foot at joints, since repaired. Very Good.
Program for the annual cotillion ball held by the Oakland - Bay Area chapter of Links, Inc., a national organization of African American women founded in 1946 and still operating today. In addition to promoting the young women who participate in its cotillions, the Links work to strengthen and support African American communities through volunteer work and fundraising.
The program includes full page photographic reproductions of the high school age debutantes, along with brief descriptions of their aspirations and hobbies, and of group portraits of their escorts, as well as numerous ads and statements of support from family and friends. Interestingly, only one of the debutantes is in the Black Student Union at her school, and another intends to study astrophysics at MIT.
Not located in OCLC, although we note holdings for other years at the University of California, Berkeley.
