True Inwardness. By an Honest Man. Second Edition.
[Newton, Massachusetts]: Sterling Elliott, (1888). 7-3/4" x 9-1/4". 32 pp. Brown wrappers printed in darker brown and bound with a red ribbon, corners die-cut throughout. Ribbon of binding separated, small loss to corner of front cover, small tear to first leaf. Very Good.
Humorous trade catalogue from Sterling Elliott, whose invention of a non-turning front axle and self-equalizing brake system, first used on his company's quadricycle, would later become major features of automobiles. Includes entries for a variety of machines, from the cutting-off tool, to a pamphlet stitcher, to bicycles and quadricycles, and comical illustrations throughout of the supposed disarray and business practices of the shop.
Scarce. We locate three copies in OCLC, at AAS, the Henry Ford, and the British Library.
