Julia Morgan (1872 - 1957) was one of the foremost California architects of her time, ultimately designing over 700 buildings, including the Hearst Castle, in San Simeon. After graduating from UC Berkeley's Civil Engineering department in 1894, she became the first woman to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and began her own design firm in San Francisco in 1905.

George Tasheira was a local businessman and President of the Union Fish Company. His house, built in the Arts and Crafts style, features a chimney embedded with tiles depicting nautical themes, from the Rookwood Pottery Company; leaded glass windows; and crystal glaze tiles for the dining room fireplace.

The original blueprints appear to be at the Bancroft Library. Scarce in commerce.
