The Jazzman and His Lady Fare.
[San Francisco]: [Stephen N. Rayner], (1965). 10-3/4" x 8-3/8". Unpaginated, but 48 pp. Comb-bound (but lacking comb) white wrappers printed in black and peach. Lacking binding comb, minor wear and toning/soiling to wrappers. Good+.
A curious "poetic narrative" about a black jazz player and his white lover, whom he gets hooked on heroin and pimps out. The action follows the lover from uptown Manhattan to Harlem, Provincetown, and Bellevue Hospital, then back to Harlem.
Rare. OCLC notes two holdings, at Northwestern University and the Bibliotheque Nationale in France; we also note it in the collections of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, to whom we strongly suspect it was sent as fan mail.
