Panorama Photograph of the Steamship Alameda after It Ran Aground at Fort Point

Regular price $500.00 $0.00

[San Francisco]: [1905]. Approximately 9-1/4 x 33 inches. Framed, with glass front and paper backing. Lightly yellowed with age. NOT REMOVED FROM FRAME FOR INSPECTION, but presumed to be in very good condition, with no obvious evidence of damage.

A striking panorama showing the Alameda being unloaded offshore in the San Francisco marina. The steamer, owned by the Oceanic Steamship Co., ran aground in a thick fog on September 30, 1905, on a reef near Fort Point. Over 100 passengers were on board, all of whom were saved, as was most of what was, according to newspaper accounts, a valuable cargo bound for Honolulu.
