Paris: Verve, 1938. 14 x 10-1/2 inches. 128pp. Blue, black and white pictorial wrappers with brown title. Profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Light soiling/spotting to wrappers; spine chipped, as is often the case with this publication, with loss and old tape repair to ends; gutter break; one leaf detached and laid in, with wear to edge; light musty odor. Good.

A scarce early issue of one of the major art and literature magazines of the 20th century, including the four original lithographs (two by Kandinsky and two by André Masson). Additional contributors include Georges Braque, who provided the cover art; James Joyce; Ernest Hemingway; André Gide; Paul Valéry; Henri Cartier-Bresson (listed here simply as "Cartier"); and many more.
