As explained here, the NWP "is a non-partisan, non-profit organization sponsoring the Equal Rights Amendment now pending before Congress: 'Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction.'"

Founded by Alice Paul and Lucy Burns in 1913, the NWP was a key player in the fight for women's suffrage. After the passage of the 19th Amendment, the group put its efforts toward the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, which was written by Alice Paul and Crystal Eastman and introduced in Congress in 1923. The ERA would have guaranteed that men and women in the US have equal legal rights, but, despite nearly being ratified in 1979, it has not yet passed into law. The NWP closed its doors in 2020.
